SEOEA REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY REPORT
April 8, 2008

Forty-six delegates and eleven guests attended the SEOEA Representative Assembly that was held April 8 at Westview Elementary in Jackson. Guests included Candidate for STRS Board, Tim Myers; NEOEA President, Andre Taylor; OEA LRC. Don Dalton; OEA LRC, Debi Maynard; OEA President, Pat Frost ooks; OEA Vice-President, Bill Leibensperger; OEA Secretary Treasurer, Jim Timlin; NEA Director, Lee Schreiner; Central OEA President, Scott DiMauro; NEA Director, Martha Mitchell; and Retired member, Mary Shrader.

SEOEA Treasurer, Jim Wilhelm presented the proposed 2008-2009 Budget. It was then adopted by the delegates.

Speakers - SEOEA President, Jane Miller and OEA Officers addressed the Assembly. Scott DiMauro made a presentation on the activities of the School Employees Health Care Board. OEA Board of Directors member, Jim Miller delivered an OEA Board Report. SEOE Executive Committee member, Lydia Hunter reported on proposed changes in the OEA Resolutions. Region Two Coordinating Council Chairperson Pam Smith reported on RCC activities. NEA Directors, Martha Mitchell and Lee Schreiner gave an NEA report.

OEA NEA Candidates - Martha Mitchell spoke to the delegates on behalf of Deloris Rome Hudson candidate for OEA Board of Director At-Large. Andre Taylor spoke to the delegates on behalf of Barbara Catalano candidate for OEA Board of Director At-Large. Lee Schreiner, Candidate for NEA Director #1, also spoke to the delegates.

SEOEA Screening Chair, Jim Miller moved on behalf of the Executive Committee to endorse Deloris Rome Hudson for OEA Board of Director At- Large and to endorse Lee Schreiner for NEA Director #1. The delegates passed the motion.

SEOEA Candidates – Matt Conrad candidate for SEOEA representative to the OEA Board of Directors and Barbara ushart candidate for SEOEA Executive Committee At-Large were declared elected by acclamation.

STRS Board Candidate – Tim Myers, the OEA endorsed candidate for the STRS Board, spoke to the delegates.

Awards – Chairperson of the Awards Committee Becky Nolt presented the SEOEA Pacesetter Award to eight locals. To qualify for the award locals must have delegates attending the fall and Spring RA’s, they must have conducted an FCPE drive with at least 10% of their members contributing, and they must have had members attend one other SEOEA function during the year. The award, which is a certificate and a $100 check, was given to Alexander, Belpre, Federal Hocking, Jackson, Morgan, Southern (Perry), Warren and Wellston.

Bill Van Pelt and Jane Miller won prizes from NEA Member Benefits.

OEA Fund for Children and Public Education - Delegates contributed $794. to the OEA Fund for Children and Public Education. Janice Krebs Vinton won the Speedway gas card in a giveaway held in connection with the fund collection.

President Miller adjourned the meeting at 8:25 p.m., and a briefing followed for delegates to the OEA Representative Assembly.
